- Dura mater

Meningeal spaces
- Epidural space: no true space exists in the cranium but does in the spinal canal.
- Subdural space.
- Subarachnoid space.
Pachymeninges: dura mater.
- Intracranial hypotension is a common cause of inflammation of the pachymeninges.
Leptomeninges: combined arachnoid and pia mater.
- Infectious meningitis is a common cause of exclusive inflammation of the leptomeninges, so-called meningitis.
